Spring of each year launches a new group of yearly scholarships to train under the direction of Barbara Delgado at New Image Dance Studio. To enhance the yearly scholarship program the qualified recipients of the yearly scholarships between the ages of twelve and seventeen years, with potential for advancement will participate in the Miami Dance Project Junior Company.

Every MDP, Inc. scholarship recipient must meet the same criteria in order to qualify. Most important the applicant must have a respectable attitude with a genuine desire to learn and train in all dance styles.

Candidates are reviewed on a basis of need, talent, grades, and attitude. The primary selection pool is from the Miami Dade County School. Students who desire to further their dance education may request consideration for scholarships. No prior formal dance experience is required, however a true financial need for assistance is. 

It is also required to submit a current teacher recommendation and report card with a grade point average of C or greater, which must be maintained while receiving financial support from the MDP.  The candidate must provide a W2 form and/or documentation the individual qualifies for free school lunch program to prove financial need.

Most auditions are held the third Saturday in July.

TWO PART SELECTION: First a panel of judges will evaluate the talent portion of the audition. Once selected the board of directors of the Miami Dance Project meet with the applicant and guardians for an interview, and the final selections are made. The number of scholarships given are dependent on funding. Once the individual has been selected for the scholarship program all his/her class tuitions and costume fees are paid by the Miami Dance Project.
